Summer Discovery 2012
Mondays from June 25 - August 13th
10:00 am - 4:00 pm, ages 6 - 10
Make the Most of Summer Vacation with ADVENTURE MONDAYS!
Activities will include nature hikes, berry picking, splashing in the waterfall and creek, crayfish hunting, building a teepee, art, music, dance, reading, volleyball, soccer, water games, and growing plants. We have chickens, ducks and turkeys and the kids will learn how to care for them. We also have 2 dogs and a cat who are very kid-friendly!
The MAIN EVENT of this year's Summer Discovery will be an entrepreneurial adventure called "Lucky Charms." Each day we'll take a walk in the woods and pick up rocks, stones, feathers and other pieces of nature. We'll take them to the waterfall, where the kids will imbue each of their pieces with an intention such as Love, Health, Happiness, etc. In the afternoon, the kids will decorate each piece according to its intention. The kids will then be able to sell the Lucky Charms or give them away.
We will be making a movie of the entire summer experience, and everyone will get a copy! They will write and record a song for the background to the video, and write and record the script.
Lunch will be a buffet including a variety of healthy foods, with something for everyone. Water and snacks will be available to the kids all day.
We recommend the kids have water shoes, which can be sneakers, crocs, or anything else you don't mind them getting wet! They will also need a towel, swimming clothes, dry clothes to change into after water play, and something warm to wear if it's cold.
The kids will have time before and after lunch to read, relax, and play on their personal electronics.
Rainy days will be dedicated to working on the script and music, artwork, watching movies.
We are limited to 10 enrollments each week. Registration must be completed by Sunday 3pm for the following day. To make sure you are guaranteed a space, pre-registration is strongly encouraged!
Children will need to bring a day pack with sunscreen, bug spray, and any personal items they need. Please make sure items are marked clearly!! Long pants are recommended for hikes.
Please notify us of any health issues, including allergies. We will take every precaution to make sure that your child is safe while in our care, however we will not be held responsible for any injuries sustained on our property, and parents will need to sign a waiver before the child begins his or her first session.
Aggression, not following directions and other forms of inappropriate behavior will be grounds for immediate dismissal.
